A loan of $525 helps to purchase farming inputs such as high-nutrient fertilizers and certified seeds to improve her farm yield and earn more profits.

Ann's story

Ann (a 35-year-old mom of 3 children) has a great credit rating. She is a resourceful and hardworking woman who resides with her husband and children in a remote village in Bomet.

In this region, job opportunities are very scarce and the level of poverty has skyrocketed. Ann is honest and hardworking, and she gives everything to raise her children. With very few resources, she has pulled through. She is involved in dairy and crop farming. Her work brings home important income. She gets help with the work from her family members.

Ann is seeking a loan to purchase farming inputs such as high-nutrient fertilizers and certified seeds to improve her farm yield and earn more profits from sales to support her family.

Ann is optimistic that this year's harvest will be better than last season's. Income from her dairy business will be used to make initial loan repayments until the crops are harvested and sold.

Most microfinance organizations, particularly in her area of Kenya, don’t give loans to smallholder farmers but Juhudi Kilimo is standing out and is different. Juhudi Kilimo is expanding into this market and is happy to provide Kiva lenders with the opportunity to support Kenyan smallholder farmers.

Ann is very thankful for your warm consideration and helping hand. Be inspired; make a loan as we approach the second half of 2021!

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
